Feel the Groove
By pierrot-le-fou
Feel the groove, placed into the unearthly hands. Chaos, like a demons heartbeat, a rhythm unknown to the world… it was something he heard, but couldn’t place. His shoulders tugged and swayed as the music took over his mind. Consumed by the haze of darkness, he started wriggling around the office, with a lost expression on his face. He planned to find himself.
They looked at him blankly as he danced; wondering what had gotten into him. Had the man finally snapped, or was it that he just didn’t care? Soon they started dancing with him, feeling the same strange beat.
Step to the left, step to the right, spin around and bring it down tonight…
They all danced in unison, trampling up and down the office hallways and precinct rooms, down the holding cells and into the interrogation halls. The spirited commotion spread across the whole precinct as everyone danced and sang with glee. Except one.
She poked her seething angry head out of her office to look at what was happening. Even her secretary had joined the chaos, as she looked out to see her entire command dancing and frolicking like a bunch of idiots at a rave.
As she rounded out onto the detective’s floor, her face met her palm as she took a knee in embarrassment and shame. There was a group of 30 or so of her detectives, including the surveillance man from Internal Affairs, following Keith Douglas’s movements as they grooved to “I like Big Butts!”
As the looming terror approached, one by one, the detectives snapped out of their trance and went back to doing their work with the realization of what might come. As Q came closer, more detectives began running back to their positions, leaving only Keith and Allen dancing on the floor. Al suddenly noticed they were alone and his jaw dropped at the realization that Q was standing right behind Keith.
Still dancing like a fool, Keith spun right into Q and caught a backhand to the face. Keith flew into the stereo system, knocking out the music and silencing everyone in the building. A lone roll off toilet paper cascaded down in the background as Q basked in the moment of silence and sudden order.
“Now all is right in the world.” She chuckled as she returned to her office.
